Bone Age Measurement and Adult Height Prediction
Using an X-ray of the hand to measure bone age, along with current data such as height and weight, we can predict your final adult height at age 20. In girls, we can also estimate when menstruation (menarche) is likely to begin.
If there is a discrepancy of more than 2 years between your actual age and bone age, hormonal testing for precocious puberty may be required. Depending on the results, treatment for precocious puberty may be needed. If the test results are normal, growth hormone therapy may be suggested to help increase your final adult height.
Testing Process
1. An X-ray of the hand should be taken by your primary care physician or chiropractor.
2. When you make a consultation appointment with JE The Dr, please upload the X-ray image (you can request a CD when the X-ray is taken).
3. Then, enter your gender, date of birth, height, weight, and your parents' heights in the provided form.
If you choose to receive just the results, they will be emailed to you within 12 hours.
If you choose a Zoom consultation, an email with the Zoom link will be sent immediately after you book and pay. The consultation will begin at the scheduled time, and the session lasts about 15 minutes.
